In the Local’s July general membership meeting, a motion was passed that directed the Local leadership to write a letter to University Pension Plan (UPP) managers requesting that an immediate screen be implemented on any new investments in military industries in general and companies supplying the Israeli military specifically. The motion also directed the Local’s leadership to advocate that the UPP divest from military industries in general and companies supplying the Israeli military specifically.
The letter as described in the motion was sent to UPP managers. The written response the Union received is provided here.
The Local has requested to have representatives of the UPP attend a meeting with Local 1998 members about the issue of UPP divestment.
